PhD Café – Please Don’t Steal My Work

In 2022, the #pleasedontstealmywork campaign swept across Danish universities, gathering 120 testimonies from junior scientists about colleagues taking credit for their work and about abuse of power by senior researchers. At this PhD Café, Maria Toft, who initiated the campaign, and Professor Sten Schaumburg-Müller will discuss the culture that emerged from these testimonies, what we can do to address it, and the institutional mechanisms that have been put in place to safeguard PhD students.

About the speakers:

Maria Toft launched the #pleasedontstealmywork campaign in collaboration with the PhD Association Network of Denmark and has recently spearheaded the Movement for a Free Academia in Denmark (Forskerbevægelsen).

Sten Schaumburg-Müller is a Professor of Law at the University of Southern Denmark. In addition to his many academic credentials, Schaumburg-Müller is Head of the Committee on Good Scientific Practice at SDU.
