Research identifiers and indicators

This course will give you an understanding of how your research is collected and presented in external research databases. You will also learn how you can edit and correct collected information.

During the course you will be introduced to citation databases and how your data is collected and presented in each database. We will go through the databases Scopus, Web of Science, Google Scholar and Pure. We will focus on author profiles in each of these databases as well as how ORCID can be used to actively improve other author profiles.

Topics include:

  • Degree of indexing and how data is affected (publication numbers and citations)

  • Indicators such as Field weighted citation index and h-index

  • Which databases make sense for you to use?

  • How to claim and clean up profiles in databases:

  • Web of Science

  • Scopus

  • ORCID

After the introduction there will be time to go through the introduced profiles with help from the library. Please bring a laptop for this part.
