PhD Café: “Surviving the media attention: Shared experiences from a researcher at SDU”

PhD Café: “Surviving the media attention: Shared experiences from a researcher at SDU”

In the autumn of 2021 Manuella Lech Cantuaria, assistant professor at SDU Applied AI and Data Science, published a study that showed an association between exposure to traffic noise and risk of dementia. This led to a massive interest from the media and in this presentation Manuella will share her experiences on how to deal with the media as a researcher.

Manuella will elaborate on some main tips, e.g.:

  • Prepare yourself before interviews = try to identify possible questions from the journalists
  • Difficult to be in control with the interpretation of the results = take control over the parts of the process where you’ve got the possibility
  • Stay calm and get your sleep
